I went with my friend Rick, KB1ASM up to Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park in Freeport Maine to operate in the Parks on The Air Program. There were a couple of bus loads of kids out at the park for a summer outing. A group of 13 kids came over and we explained what we were doing and asked the kids if they would like to say hello to someone on ham radio. Each of them got to talk to a station just outside of New York City. Some asked a few questions, but just about all left with a big smile on their face. To me, that’s what ham radio should be about. And, secondarily, Rick and I had a blast and ended up with 155 contacts for the day.
