Thanks for the email and I always enjoy when I can listen to/check in to the Cracker Net. I wish I could make it on a more regular basis but between dinner and my multiple projects and hobbies it isn’t easy. Ironically, I tuned into 3932 tonight around 700pm and missed the net…
The video was interesting. I like how he calls New York City “The Concrete Jungle.”

So, I was born in New York City in 1970 and my parents moved us to Sleepy Hollow in 1972. Sleepy Hollow is a beautiful neighborhood on the banks of the Hudson River about 25 miles from NYC and out house was 3 blocks from the train into the city – a 35 minute ride.
NYC was NOT good in the 1970s – dirty, crime ridden, decrepit in many parts and almost bankrupt. I started working in New York City in 1994, attended graduate school there from 1995 – 1997, and continued to work in the city until I retired in 2019. During those years New York City just got better and better and better. Cleaner, safer, more updated and a real joy to visit.
What I love about where we live in Pleasantville, NY is that we have 2.5 acres of property but can walk to everything in our town: the schools, the restaurants, the train station, the movie theater, the gym I work out in, etc. The surrounding area is very bucolic and it offers many outdoor activities. It also provides easy access to NYC and we have done many things in the city over the years including staying overnight in NYC hotels and enjoying a long weekend visiting the waterfall in the middle of Central Park, taking in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at Lincon Center, visiting the Cloisters, taking a ride on the giant ferris wheel at Coney Island, eating an Italian meal at Arthur Avenue or meandering through the Botanical Gardens. I love NYC but I am a country boy at heart and also like to split wood… AND shoot my compound and longbows at a target.
The downside of Westchester County is that real estate prices are very high and property taxes can be astronomical.
For now, we love it and plan to stay but Kim and I are talking about our longer term plans. Our eldest daughter, Nicole, is a sophomore at Northeaster University in Boston. Grace, our youngest, will attend Bucknell University in September so my wife and I will be empty nesters for 9 months out of the year. We will kick the tires on whether we wish to move somewhere else.
I have attached a picture of Kim, Nicole, Grace and me.
Apologies for any grammatical and/or spelling errors as I was up very early this AM and an running low on focus and energy.
I look forward to speaking with you on the air today.
