    1. They dug a big long trench & buried cars etc next to that small store in Aitch.
I was there. My uncle Dan Zelem had a diary farm across from Facces ice cream.

  1. Anything known of the History of Markleysburg (Marklesburg) THE ZEIGLER House on the corner of Rt 26 and Aitch Rd. We used to rent this home for our boating vacation for many enjoyable summers. I find NOTHING about this place . It is my understanding it was a tavern and stopping point along that way
    Thank you

    1. My great grandfather John Dorman owned a store there. I don’t know which building it was or anything else about the town other than the name was the initials of the 5 founders.

    2. The photo is before 1955 because the H&BTM RR tracks are still there. I grew up below the town. I lived with my Grandparents and my mother owned a small home in the town. Only the part of town that was below the tracks is underwater and the field behind the barn. the cars someone mentioned were removed not buried and the current Aitch fishing pier was built on the section of he RR grade where Enyearts had junked cars. The Zeigler House was built by one of my descendants John Shultz. Markleysburg and Marklesburg are two different towns Markleysburg is a town in Fayette County PA.

  2. There are no homes under the lake. People were allowed to do what they wanted with their homes and out buildings. They were either moved, dismantled and salvaged. or dozed and burnt. My moms home was log under clapboard siding. She sold it and it was dismantled and numbered . It was then rebuilt as an addition to another existing home North West of Marklesburg.
