In Matthew 5:11 speaking on the mountain, Jesus said:
“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.”
My take:
It’s much more difficult to carry your cross for the Lord by yourself if you do not have a personal relationship with a supernatural being, Jesus. Indeed the son of the living God. The indifferent find it much easier to simply go along with the world and discount the son of man who offers truth and eternal life.
