Hi Ron,
(per your request)
This old friend, the Tuna Tin, has been mentioned on a few occasions on the net.
Here’s my relation with this old circuit:
I home-brewed the 1st version of the TT using R.S. coils and passive components. A JAN Crystals FT243 rock on
7.06 MHz kept the little CW transmitter on frequency and stable on a small 12 VDC wall wart supply. This was my
first transmitter and it provided ~1/2w into 50 ohms.
I forwarded the 0.5w cw signal to a junkbox tuner and out my window of a Westbrook apartment to a 40 meter
end-fed 3/4 wave piece of stranded copper wire.
Made many CW contacts with my tiny 500 mWTuna Tin, a Heathkit HR-10B receiver and a wire. 😉

I just might have the one I built. If not I DO know I have a Rock Mire 40 mtr CW , crystal controlled radio that fits into an Altoid tin. I did put it into a machined aluminum case of the same size. It’s a nifty little rig, has a keyer built in for using an iambic paddle. It can ise a second frequency by “pulling” the crystal down a tad.
I have had a lot of fun with it and will do so again some day. Runs on a 9v transistor radio battery. De K1SRR, Rob
